Nidra Yoga

Tuesday February 12, 7-8pm- Donation Based

By donation (suggested donation $20, no one turned away for lack of funds)

In this class we'll be spending an hour in Savasana, healing, relaxing and unwinding the mind and body. Aurora will take you through a guided visualization that will allow you to become present with yourself and release you from the chatter of the monkey mind. We'll pull a tarot card from a deck at the beginning of class as an assist so you have the choice to incorporate the theme into your practice that evening. Please bring a yoga mat (or other mat or sleeping bag), dress in comfortable clothing and bring something to cover up (as your body will drop in temperature after 40 minutes and you're liable to get cold).

More info:

Yoga Nidra is a guided visualization, relaxation technique from the Tantrictradition. It helps to unwind tension in the mind & body, simply by lying down, closing your eyes and listening to the guided visualization. It is called "sleep", but the intention is to remain awake. It is not uncommon to fall in and out of sleep in the practice, however, over time you'll find it easier to stay awake. The objective of the practice is to strip away the chatter of the mind and to simply be present. It requires no effort. Some who have trouble with meditation have an easier time with this as you don't have to "try" to do or to "be" anything. One hour of Yoga Nidra is the equivalent of four hours of rest.
